Let's look at an example

1. Deceased divorced in 2004. Ex-spouse moved out with child. Deceased's mother moved in to stay with deceased since 2004.

2. Deceased died in 2019 in a traffic accident. Deceased's son have not been in contact since parent divorce. He only knew it from relatives about his father's passing.

3. Deceased did not leave behind any Will.

4. Deceased's mother claimed that deceased wanted to leave everything to her, including property.

5. Deceased's son relied on ISA to claim deceased's estate (including property).

6. Deceased's mother sued to say deceased promised to give her all assets..

7. Court award property and all other assets to be given to deceased's son instead.

Moral of the story:
Get a Will done and decide who should receive your assets!
